Hi! It's My First Blog!!

It's March 19th, 2009. And the show I've been working on for the past two years - NPR's Day to Day - is about to come to an end. It's feeling a bit like the end of summer camp. It's sad, and I've been crying a LOT lately and I hate saying goodbye to all my friends.

BUT... I know it's time to move on now. And I know I'll see these amazing people again. And, as scary as it all is (and it IS scary, especially in this economy), I am tremendously excited about starting this new chapter of my life.

What is this mysterious new chapter of which I speak? I'm not entirely sure. There are some exciting possibilities out there and I expect to be on the radio again VERY soon. Sorry I can't say much more than that at present.... but hey, now you have something exciting to look forward to, right?

In the meantime, I hope to relish every last moment of these final few hours. Stay tuned!

  1. Good Luck Alex! Thanks so much to you and Madeline for your work on Day to Day. I feel rather like I'm losing two close friends or co-workers, having got used to your voices every morning. I hope you find exciting and fulfilling new projects soon. Good luck with the blog!

  6. My commute will never be the same. When I lived in Tulsa, I listened to the show on my lunchbreak. Living in LA, I've listened faithfully on every morning commute. I enjoy the show, will follow your blog, and wish you the best.

  7. The loss of Day to Day is as much a loss to Los Angeles as it is to the national audience. It will be missed! Thanks to you and the rest of the team for six fun, interesting, and informative years.

  10. Hi Alex!
Nicole here from the Philly area. Please know that Day to Day will most certainly be missed!!! I became a fan a little over five years ago, and rarely missed a show since. Know that you have a solid fan base and that your latter will be greater than your former!!!

  11. Hi Alex! I have been a listner here in LA since day one, and will truly miss you all. I actually cried after this morning's show. You are a great journalist, and I know great things will come! I and many others will check in for your insight. NPR has not gotten the best of me! Warmest!

  14. Alex -

I have been a listener since the beginning, rejoicing in the tone and wit and depth. It was great when you began to co-host with more regularity and I will miss Day to Day greatly. I look forward to hearing you on the air soon.

  15. Hi, Alex -- I'll miss hearing you & Madelaineduring my afternoon drive back into Boston or on my way home to CT on Friday afternoon. It has been refreshing to hear two lovely female voices having real conversations and involving the listener so readily. Good luck in your future endeavors!!
